He was predeceased by: his parents, Robert Marking and Signe Marking (Romskog); and his siblings, Marion Stolsmark and Leif. He is survived by: his wife Marcie; his children, Kim Pomroy, Cindy Marking (Kevin Todd), Kathy Marking and Robert Marking (Stephanie Gruver); his grandchildren, Heather Domeier, Alicia Fick, Charles Brandt (Jillian), Derek Brandt (Abby), Brittany Banks (Darryl) and Noah Pomroy; and his sisters, Vivian Sacia, Bernice Koula (Randy), Carol Jean Marking and Doris Newman (Glenn).

In lieu of flowers memorials may be made to Trinity Lutheran Church, or a charity of the donor's choice.
