He was predeceased by: his parents, Willard Jepsen and Maize Jepsen (Butzburger); his siblings, Doris and Fred; and his son Barry.

He is survived by: his wife Betty DeBolt-Peterson; his children, Melody Dudley, Bryan Jepsen (Heidi) and Monty Jepsen; and his stepchildren, John Peterson (Jewel), Jan Pearson and Ruth Pierce (Joe). He is also survived by nine grandchildren; nineteen Great-Grandchildren and nine Great-Great Grandchildren.
