He was predeceased by: his parents, Harry Petersen and Leona Petersen (Welter); his wife Dorothy Wallgren; his children, Gregg Petersen and Jodie Sanken; and his siblings, Veryl Kehus (Eino), Elmer Pollack, Loretta Paulson (Argyle), Norman Koehler, Dick Anderson, Glen "Pete" Petersen (Delores), Gladys Petersen (Lyle), Ervin Wallgren (Magdeline) and George Wallgren (Jeanette).
He is survived by: his daughters, Kay Swanson (Karl) of Bemidji, Kathy Tumberg (Jon) of New York Mills, Jill Lonneman (Gary) of Benson and Mary Jo Brennan (Doug) of West Fargo; his son-in-law Todd Sanken of Pittsville, Wisconsin; his grandchildren, Jared Bakke (Kris), Christopher Swanson (Kate), Sara Swanson, Jenna Sturgis (Adam) and Lydia Sanken; his great grandchildren, Jessa, Jace, Leona and Calvin; and his sisters, Lorna Pollack of Renton, Washington, Jean Koehler of New York Mills and Mary Anderson of Moorhead.
