He was predeceased by: his parents, Alfred Salo and Alma Salo (Maunumaki); his parents-in-law, Ray and Edna Perala; his brothers, Tommy Salo (Donna), Elmer and Milton Makinen; his brothers-in-law, Donald Perala (Ruthie), Delano Perala and Duane Perala (LaVonne Schafer); his great grandchild Vayda; and his close friends, Gary Newborg and Ginny Jacobson.
He is survived by: his former wife Joan Mayme Marie Perala; his children, Steven, Timothy and Susan; his wife Joani Salo of New York Mills; his children, Steve "Squiggy" Salo (Robin) of New York Mills, Tim Salo (Shelly) of Byron, Illinois, Gary "Grassy" Salo (Kathy) of New York Mills and Suzi Karvonen (Greg) of New York Mills; his siblings, Warren Salo (Mary Jane) of Makinen, Marlo Salo (Dorla) of New York Mills and Margie Anderson (Dave) of Minneapolis; and his sister-in-law Donna Perala of New York Mills. He is also survived by numerous nieces, nephews, other relatives and many friends.
