He was predeceased by: his siblings, Darleen Schapekahm and Adelbert; his brothers-in-law, Bert Schapekahm, Earl Longhenry and Ronald Frey; and his parents, Adelbert Schultz and Marie Schultz (Braun).
He is survived by: his children, Michael Schultz (Deb) of Eagan, Sue Ellen Heide of Fairmont, Jane Plagge (Steve) of Apple Valley and Stephanie Bolles (Matt) of Mound; his sisters, Marliss Gieseke of Monticello, Janice Longhenry of Glencoe and Joanne Frey; his sister-in-law Rita Schultz; and his former wife Ruth Blackstad. He is also survived by eight grandchildren.
