He was predeceased by: his parents, Mary Portner (Ubel) and Edward Portner; his son Norbert B. Portner; and his siblings, Loretta Krzmarzik, Marcella Doyle, Bernice Portner, Harry, Ervin, Robert and Dennis Portner.
He is survived by: his wife Elizabeth "Betty" Portner of New Ulm; his children, Ann Seifert (Thomas C.) of New Ulm, Lisa Portner of New Ulm, Mary Erbes (Gary) of Marshall and Steven E. Portner of New Ulm; his grandchildren, Julie Kluever (Kyle), Bryan Seifert, Nicholas Erbes and Casey Erbes; his great grandchild Miles Kluever; and his sisters, Marie Sprenger of New Ulm, Betty Gleisner of New Ulm and Doris Drage (Al) of Evan. He is also survived by many nieces, nephews, relatives and friends.
Social distancing guidelines must be practiced, and all guests in attendance at the visitation and funeral will be required to wear a mask.
In lieu of flowers, memorials are preferred.
