He was predeceased by: his sister Donna; his brother-in-law Eugene Groebner; his brother Leander; his daughter-in-law Donna Helget; his parents-in-law, Henry and Lucille Altmann; his siblings-in-law, Elaine and LeRoy Hall; and his parents, John F. Helget and Mary Helget (Rothmeier).
He is survived by: his wife LaVonne Altmann; and his children, Cindy Schroepfer of New Ulm, Jackie Griebel (Rich) of New Ulm, Curt Helget of New Ulm and Tammy Stadick (Mike) of New Ulm. He is also survived by nine grandchildren; eight great-grandchildren; and nieces, a nephew, and other relatives and friends.
In lieu of flowers, memorials are preferred to Allina Hospice, the Minnesota Music Hall of Fame, or the Disabled American Veterans (Chapter 15 New Ulm).
