With heavy hearts, we announce the death of Joanne Schugel (New Ulm, Minnesota), who passed away on February 17, 2025 at the age of 86. Leave a sympathy message to the family on the memorial page of Joanne Schugel to pay them a last tribute.
She was predeceased by: her parents, Elmer Penkert and Louise Penkert (Eugene Schugel); her brother Bill Penkert; her great-niece Addison Berdan; her goddaughter Doris Marquardt; and also Layla Osborne.
She is survived by: her son Ryan; her daughter-in-law Kari; her grandchildren, Allison and Ethan; her siblings, Judy Alfred, Mary Forst, Patty Beranek (Roger) and Tom (Carol); and her sister-in-law Donna Hoffmann (Ambrose).
A rosary will be held on Wednesday, February 26th 2025 at 4:00 PM at the Cathedral of the Holy Trinity (605 N State St, New Ulm, MN 56073). Visitation will be held on Thursday, February 27th 2025 from 9:00 AM to 10:30 AM at the Minnesota Valley Funeral Home North Chapel (218 N Broadway St, New Ulm, MN 56073). A Mass of Christian burial will be held on Thursday, February 27th 2025 from 11:00 AM to 11:45 AM at the Cathedral of the Holy Trinity (605 N State St, New Ulm, MN 56073). A graveside service will be held on Thursday, February 27th 2025 from 12:00 PM to 12:15 PM at the New Ulm Catholic Cemetery.
In lieu of flowers, memorials are preferred to the New Ulm Area Catholic Schools Lunch Program.
