He was predeceased by: his father Ronald Ries; and his father-in-law Dick Preisinger. He is survived by: his daughter Elissa Ries of New Ulm; his mother Barbra Ries (Adams) of New Ulm; his sisters, Jackie Forst (Glenn) of Gibbon and Jenny Vorwerk (Christopher) of New Ulm; his mother-in-law Nettie Preisinger of New Ulm; his close friend Faye Hoiland; and also Cindy Preisinger of New Ulm. He is also survived by many other relatives and friends.

Memorials are preferred to New Ulm Area Catholic Schools, the Church of St. George, or the donor's choice.
