He was predeceased by: his parents, Alfons Hofmeister and Bertha Hofmeister (Hogan); his wife Lorraine Marie Lanners; his son John; his siblings, Wallace Hofmeister, Adeline Lindberg and Victor Hofmeister; and his siblings-in-law, Lydia Hofmeister (Norman), Lorna Hofmeister (Wallace), Marilou Hofmeister (Victor) and Wally Schapekahm (LaVerne).
He is survived by: his children, Marie Goodell (Daniel) of San Francisco, CA, Janet Pool (Randy) of Bloomington, MN, Paula Phillippe (Kevin) of Minneapolis, MN, Michael Hofmeister (Marie) of Cross Plains, WI, Leo Hofmeister (Heather) of Chanhassen, MN and Susan Porter (Alan) of Minneapolis, MN.; his grandchildren, Sarah Siers (Wes), Cynthia Hofmeister, Samantha Stewart (Jason), Jo Phillippe, Ethan Hofmeister, Eleanor Hofmeister and Jameson Porter; his great grandchildren, Cooper Siers and Raymond Siers; and his siblings, Norman Hofmeister and LaVerne Schapekahm. He is also survived by numerous nieces, nephews.
Visitation was held on Sunday, March 2nd 2025 from 2:00 PM to 5:00 PM and on Monday, March 3rd 2025 from 12:00 PM to 1:30 PM at the Minnesota Valley Funeral Home – North Chapel (218 N Broadway St, New Ulm, MN 56073). A Mass of Christian burial was held on Monday, March 3rd 2025 at 2:00 PM at the Cathedral of the Holy Trinity (605 N State St, New Ulm, MN 56073).
Memorials preferred to Cathedral of the Holy Trinity or Community and Seniors Together (CAST) in New Ulm.
