He was predeceased by: his wife Adeline; his siblings, Amelia (Harry Weymann), Louise (Walter Gulden), Roman (Mathilda Saffert), Ambrose (Hildegard Saffert) and Elizabeth (Henry Schaefer); and his sister-in-law Raymond Schimschock.
He is survived by: his children, Christine Reger (Jerome) of New Ulm, Kathleen Saffert of Hutchinson and Gary Saffert (Kriste) of North Mankato; his grandchildren, Jennifer Geiger (Matt) of New Ulm, Scott Reger (Amanda Schwab) of New Ulm, Tommy Saffert (Bri) of Becker and Jackie Saffert of Minneapolis; his great grandchildren, Adam Geiger and Franklin Saffert; his sister Marie Schimschock of New Ulm; his sisters-in-law, Susan Forster and Shirley Forster of New Ulm; and his parents, Frank Saffert and Elizabeth Saffert (Hoffmann).
