He is survived by: his wife Mary Burghardt (Schuck) of New Ulm; his children, Julia Stadick (Cory) of New Ulm, Jenny Pedersen (Jim) of Grand Junction, CO, Gwendolyn Weimer (Don) of University Heights, OH, George Burghardt (Kathy) of Greenville, WI and Jon Burghardt (Nancy) of Houston, TX; his grandchildren, Ryan, Rachel Stadick, Jessie, Jamie, Josie, Jacie Pedersen, Madalin, Parker, Jacob Weimer, Emily, Ethan Burghardt, Gabriella and Aaron Burghardt; and his siblings, Carolyn Wellmann, Rozella Cook (Darold) of Sleepy Eye, Gene Burghardt (Joyce) of Alexandria and John Burghardt, Jr. of Springfield. He is also survived by many nieces, nephews, and cousins.
