He was predeceased by: his wife Ardis Griebel (Pautzke) of Mary's Church; his former wife Rose Marie Griebel (Colter); his siblings, Dolores Schwab (Jerome), Lucille Bennett (Dee) and Eugene Griebel (Virginia); his stepson Rick Pautzke; and his parents, Alfred Griebel and Rose Griebel (Weber).
He is survived by: his children, David Griebel, Mark Griebel (Kathy), Joan Surma (Mark Anderson) and Denise Veit (Brian); and his stepchildren, Terry Pautzke (Ann), Renee Grupe (Randy), Kay Johnson and Mike Pautzke (Dino). He is also survived by his 21 grandchildren and 28 great-grandchildren.
Visitation was held on Monday, January 13th 2025 from 4:00 PM to 7:00 PM and on Tuesday, January 14th 2025 from 9:30 AM to 10:30 AM at the Minnesota Valley Funeral Home North Chapel (218 N Broadway St, New Ulm, MN 56073). A Mass of Christian burial was held on Tuesday, January 14th 2025 at 11:00 AM at the Cathedral of the Holy Trinity (605 N State St, New Ulm, MN 56073).
