She was predeceased by: her husband Lloyd Steinbach of Paul's Evangelical Lutheran Church; her brother Jim Meyer; and her parents, Raymond Meyer and Lydia Meyer (Dauleg). She is survived by: her children, Tracy Denn (Patrick) of New Ulm, Tim Steinbach (Marsha) of Chaska, Tom Steinbach (Marie Hort) of New Ulm and Terry Steinbach (Mary) of Rogers; her grandchildren, Kali Denn (Brandon Geiger), Brittany LeBert (Logan), Gerren, Colin Steinbach, Joey Steinbach (Adrian), Jill Michael (Ben), Lucas Steinbach (Christine Bracke) and Jake Steinbach; her sister LaVon Whalen; her sister-in-law Luverne Meyer; and her brother Roger Meyer (Mona). She is also survived by 3 great-grandchildren, other relatives and friends.

Nellie worked as a cook in the New Ulm High School cafeteria and then at Cashwise, until Covid, when she retired.
