She was predeceased by: her siblings, James, Joe Heiling and Jani Mohlenbrock; her son-in-law Joe Hacker; her daughter Susie; her parents, Alois Heiling and Evelyn Heiling (Heiderscheidt); and her husband Elmer Alfred Gareis.
She is survived by: her children, Fred Gareis (Sandy) of New Ulm, Patty Grussendorf (Steve) of New Ulm, Kathy Hacker of Mankato, John Gareis (Loralyn) of Rogers, Betty Fortwengler (Kenny) of New Ulm, Jim Gareis (Candace) of New Prague and Amy Doeden (Brian) of Waconia; her siblings, Judy Hurias (Jerry) of Morgan and Jack Heiling (Barb) of Morgan; and her sister-in-law Deb Heiling of Morgan. She is also survived by 20 grandchildren; 16 great-grandchildren; and many nieces, nephews, other relatives, and many friends.
