He was predeceased by: his parents, Florentine Mathiowetz and Helen Mathiowetz (Hornick); his wife LaDonna Schroepfer; his daughter Joan Mathiowetz; his siblings, Mary Ann Sturm (Lloyd), Angeline Roiger (Gerald) and Gilbert Mathiowetz; and his brother-in-law Kenneth Helget.
He is survived by: his children, John Mathiowetz (Cheryl) of New Ulm, Joel Mathiowetz (Terri) of Comfrey and Julie Schmid (Corey) of Sauk Rapids; his grandchildren, Christopher Mathiowetz (Chelsey), Emily Mathiowetz (Kaylee), Rachel Wagner (Nick), Anthony Mathiowetz (Becca), Annataya Zwack (Johnny) and Kirby Schmid (Megan); his great grandchildren, Jasper, Avery Wagner, Iris Mathiowetz, Milo Zwack and Kian Pitt; and his siblings, Rosella Helget of Springfield, Donald Mathiowetz (Marilyn) of Springfield and Carol Wendland (Smokey) of Sleepy Eye.
