She was predeceased by: her parents, Thomas Retka and Theresa Retka (Reger); her aunt Rose Retka; her son-in-law Kevin Carpentier; and her siblings, Luverne Retka, Vera Pauly, Russell Retka and Shirley Hickey.
She is survived by: her significant other Robert J. Hanzel; her children, Rick Hanzel (Judy), Anne Hanzel, Tom Hanzel, Mary Pat Carpentier, Beth Giesen (Pete), David Hanzel (Suzannah "Suki") and Gretchen "Gigi" Parks (Jeff); her siblings, Peggy Rosdahl (Dennis) and Allan Retka (Sandi); and her sister-in-law Jean Retka. She is also survived by her many friends, and all the nieces and nephews.
