He was predeceased by: his parents, John Holden and Susan Holden (Pranke); his former wife Barbara Holden; his grandson Nicholas Connelly; and his siblings, Bob, Tom Holden, Agnes Masica, Loretta Schloesser, Marie Claus, Catherine Hamilton and Helen Hadac.
He is survived by: his wife Armella "Amy" Holden of New Prague; his children, Marilyn Kluntz (Jim) of Lake Jefferson, Patti Malinski (John) of Webster, Jim Holden (Cathy) of St. Thomas, Jerry Holden (Mitzi) of Northfield, Richard Holden (Bonnie) of Reston, VA, Ed Holden (Kim) of New Prague and Jen Feddema (Paul) of Farmington; his stepchildren, Jim Connelly of St. Thomas, Terry Connelly of New Prague, Dan Connelly (Julee) of Apple Valley, Beth Rykken (Ron) of Babbitt and Chuck Connelly (Tami) of Eden Valley; and his sisters-in-law, Maxine Holden of New Prague, Pat Blankenship of Georgetown, TX and Marilyn Rademacher of Jordan. He is also survived by 27 grandchildren; 33 great-grandchildren.
In lieu of flowers, memorials preferred to the American Cancer Society or the Diabetes Association.
