He was predeceased by: his parents, Edward J. Smisek and Julia Smisek (Trnka); his daughter-in-law Wanda Knutson-Smisek; and his siblings, Edward, Robert, Lawrence, Julia Pexa, Martha Krocak and Darlean.
He is survived by: his wife Mary M. Maus; his children, Darlene Seurer (Rodney) of New Prague, Edward Knutson-Smisek of Burnsville and Susan Smisek of Lakeville; his grandchildren, Alexander Knutson (Chelsea), Jason Knutson-Smisek, Katherine Reiter (Mike), Jack Stahler, Amber Leppanen and Lucas Leppanen; and his great grandchild Margo Reiter.
