He is survived by: his children, Ruth Klaphake (Wayne) of Melrose, Ron Schaefer (Maureen) of New Munich and Sharon Richter; his grandchildren, Andy, Amber, Aaron, Hannah, Ellen, Kate, Jen and Vanessa; his great grandchildren, Tyler and Tori; and his brother Clarence Schaefer (Mary) of Meire Grove.
