He was predeceased by: his parents, George J. Mahowald and Beatrice Mahowald (Zweber); his wife Merle (Sullivan); his daughter-in-law Donna Mahowald; his granddaughter Mollie Mahowald (LaVonne Swenson); and his siblings, Aelred, Genevieve Deutsch and Edward Mahowald.
He is survived by: his children, Paul, Ann Knauer (Warren), Jean Pociengel (Bill), Pat, George, Maureen, Liz Milesko Daniel Mosier (Joe), Parnell, Elaine Patnode Peter (Norman), Peggy and Amy Mahowald.
In lieu of flowers memorials preferred to St. Nicholas Catholic Church or to Meals on Wheels at CAP of Scott Carver and Dakota Counties.
