She was predeceased by: her parents, Otis Hjelle and Belinda Hjelle (Roisum); her husband George Tangen; her daughter Carol Monson; and her siblings, Kern, Gertrude and Beatrice.
She is survived by: her son-in-law Bob Monson of New London. She is also survived by seven grandchildren; eight great-grandchildren; three sisters-in-law and numerous nieces and nephews.
