It is with great sadness that we announce the death of Gene Kohler of New Hope, Minnesota, born in Ortonville, Minnesota, who passed away on February 24, 2023, at the age of 84, leaving to mourn family and friends. He was predeceased by: his parents, Fred E. Kohler and Agnes M. Kohler (Novak); and his stepfather Ernie Edison. He is survived by: his children, DeAnn Thompson (Bob) of New London, MN, Elizabeth Chavez (Daryl) of Chandler, AZ and Michael Kohler (Janelle Sjodin) of Brainerd, MN; his grandson John Thompson (Jen) of Paynesville, MN; his children, Mandy Kempenich of London, England, Zachary Thompson (Andrea Marsh) of Fargo, ND, Taylor Niemi (Kai Hsu) of Miami, FL, Jake Niemi of Chandler, AZ and Hannah Niemi of Chandler, AZ; his great grandchildren, Harper Thompson and Hayden Thompson; and his siblings, Marilyn Scherer, Betty Block, Karen Vogel and Ron Kohler.
