He was predeceased by: his wife Georgia; his son Scott; and his brother Dwayne. He is survived by: his children, Douglas Dauer (Laura) and Mahna Smieja (Donald); and his grandchildren, Emma, Devon and Dylan. He is also survived by many relatives and good friends.

In lieu of flowers, memorials preferred to the church in his memory.
