Jack Wilfred Stouten Obituary
Jack Wilfred Stouten (83) of New Brighton, MN, passed away peacefully on January 24, 2024 surrounded by his loving family. Jack was born to Wilfred and Leona (Sickler) Stouten on September 4, 1940 in Minneapolis. Most of his childhood was spent in St. Paul. He married Linda Donnay on June 1, 1963 and they celebrated 60 years of marriage.
Jack earned his BS and MA in Education (St. Cloud State University), Education Specialist (St. Thomas University), and Doctorate in Education Administration (Walden University). He enjoyed his work as a teacher, principal, superintendent, university professor, and as the magician 'Magic Jack. Under Jack's leadership, Wadena-Deer Creek Elementary School earned the National School of Excellence Award in 1987-88.
He served as Sertoma Governor (Southern MN), president of MN Elementary School Principal's Assn. and was an active member in numerous community service projects including Madhatters theater playing the lead in "The King and I." Jack and Linda loved traveling worldwide.
He is survived by his wife, four children, Rebecca Stouten, William Stouten (Viviana), Jacqueline Van Cleef and Cynthia Bassett Hartwig, grandchildren Eric, Kelly, and Matthew Tappe, Sienna Jark (Collin), Lucas Stouten, Steven Ruiz, Sabastian Van Cleef, Charles and Donovan Bassett (Tingting Huo), and great grandchild, Liam Jark. He was preceded in death by his parents, brother Ron and niece Sherri Colegrove.
A memorial service will be held on Wednesday, January 31, at 2:00 p.m. at Nativity Lutheran Church, 3312 Silver Lake Road, Minneapolis, MN. Visitation is at 1:00 p.m. and refreshments will follow the service.
