It is with great sadness that we announce the death of Richard Edgar Melhorn (Motley, Minnesota), who passed away on November 17, 2024, at the age of 91, leaving to mourn family and friends. Though Richard Edgar may no longer walk beside us, his memory will forever be enshrined in the fabric of the lives of those Richard Edgar touched, a beacon of light guiding us through the darkness. In his absence, his spirit lives on — a gentle whisper in the breeze, a ray of sunlight on a cloudy day, a reminder that love knows no boundaries.
He was predeceased by: his parents, Henry Melhorn and Altha Melhorn; and his siblings, Darlene Cardwell and Robert Melhorn. He is survived by: his wife Josefa Melhorn (Josie) of Minnetonka; his children, Richard Melhorn (Sharon Marlette) of Pine River, Mark Melhorn (Karen) of Crystal, Caroline Spillers (Scott) of Watertown, Christopher Melhorn (Dawn) of Forest Lake, Thomas Melhorn and Martin Melhorn (Lesa) of Grosse Isle, MI; and his sister Elsie Mae Stauty of Duluth. He is also survived by 13 grandchildren; 26 great-grandchildren.
Visitation will be held on Tuesday, November 26th 2024 at 10:00 AM at the St Michael's Catholic Church (280 1st Ave S, Motley, MN 56466). A Mass of Christian burial will be held on Tuesday, November 26th 2024 at 11:00 AM at the same location.
