He is survived by: his spouses, Debbie Swaim and Deb of Motley; his children, Brandon Mertens of Motley and Josh Mertens of Motley; his parents, Gary Sr (Gab) of Staples and Dot of Staples; his brother Gary Jr. (Boo) of Staples; and his sister-in-law Laura Freeman (Craig) of Cheraw, SC. He is also survived by many nieces; nephews; great nieces and nephews; cousins; uncles and aunts; and many friends.
