He is survived by: his wife Mary Jane of Morris; his children, Kurt VanKempen (Lisa) of Coon Rapids, Sara VanKempen (Mitch Finne) of Eden Prairie and Leah VanKempen of Morris; his grandchildren, Jake VanKempen of Minneapolis and Eleanor Finne of Eden Prairie; and his siblings, Charles "Smokey" VanKempen of Chokio, Joseph VanKempen (Deborah) of Lenexa, KS, William VanKempen (Debi) of Hammond, WI and Patricia Christiansen (Roger) of Gardner, KS. He is also survived by numerous nieces and nephews.
