She was loved and cherished by many people including: her children, Steve (Rita), Shelley (Tony), John, Nancy (Jay) and Brian; her grandchildren, Kate, Anne, Bianca (Jason), Vanessa (Travis), John (Jennifer), Elizabeth, Carley (Russ), Kia (Andrew), Lauren and Pierce; her great grandchildren, Francesca, Taavi, Caden, Elle, Hudson, Blake, Brody, Caleb, Scarlett and Louisa; her former husbands, Vance N. Thysell and Grant F. Herreid; and her parents, Edward Welch and Olga Welch (Brudvig).
Memorials may be made to the Plains Art Museum – Phyllis Thysell Education Fund, Fargo, or Lutheran Church of the Good Shepherd, Moorhead.
