It is with great sadness that we announce the death of Donald J. Mertes of Moorhead, Minnesota, who passed away on July 17, 2024, at the age of 85, leaving to mourn family and friends. Family and friends are welcome to leave their condolences on this memorial page and share them with the family.
He was predeceased by: his parents, Jacob Mertes and Leona Mertes (Homan); his wife Ann Griffin; his sister Rosemary Mertes; his siblings-in-law, Don Fugere and Elizabeth Mertes; and his godson Richard Krauth.
He is survived by: his children, Jeffrey, Lori Fearing, Fargo and Randall; his grandsons, Jason Fearing (Casey), Tyler Fearing and Fargo; his great grandchildren, Liam and Everett Fearing; and his siblings, Donna Fugere of San Deigo, CA, Pat Orn (Charlie) of Lisbon, ND, Rita Mertes of Apple Valley, MN, Jeri Bean (Gordy Campbell) of Eau Claire, WI, James Mertes, Sr. of Hudson, FL and Ronald Mertes (Sandy) of Barnesville, MN. He is also survived by numerous nieces and nephews.
