He is survived by: his wife Rose of Fargo; his children, Crissy Bates of Eureka, NV, Cathy Bates of Flom, MN, Bernard Bates (Beth) of Fargo and Eugene Bates (Jenna) of Fargo; his grandchildren, Amber, Natalie, Matthew, Allie, Anna, Evan and Kaia; his great grandchildren, Christopher Freier, Cienna Freier, Carter Bates and Rayna James; and his sisters, Maxine Boehing (Duane) of Fargo and Delores Bates (HT) of Vergas, MN.
Visitation was held on Wednesday, February 5th 2025 from 10:00 AM to 11:00 AM at the St Joseph Catholic Church (218 10th St S, Moorhead, MN 56560). A Mass was held on Wednesday, February 5th 2025 at 11:00 AM at the same location.
