Edith Churness Verdorn Obituary
It is with great sadness that we announce the death of Edith Churness Verdorn (Monticello, Minnesota), who passed away on July 31, 2021, at the age of 98, leaving to mourn family and friends. Family and friends are welcome to leave their condolences on this memorial page and share them with the family.
She was predeceased by: her parents, Ellen Caroline (Asheim) and Peder P. Rice; her stepdaughter Cheryl Ann; her husbands, Curtis Churness and Jake Verdorn; and her siblings, Palmer, Milton, Mabel, Ole, Johnny, Ernest, Joseph, Verdine and Lila.
She is survived by: her stepchildren, Joel Ernest and Alene Gail; her children, Joel Churness (Deloris) of Madison, MN, Alene Olson (Dale) of Katy, TX and Marlo Churness (Julie) of Big Lake, MN; her grandchildren, Patrick Budgett (Stephanie), Bernadette Clave (Chris), Ryan Churness (Paulette), Erik Olson (Bet), Paul Olson (Sheena), Lenea Mitchell (Stephen), Sara Krogh (Matt) and Kim Churness; and her great grandchildren, Alexis, Finley, Grayson Clave, Adalyn, Landon, Dawson Churness, Zain, Tesfa Olson, Remington, Savannah, Jarett Hillis and John Olson. She is also survived by nieces, nephews, cousins, and friends.
She survived COVID, but the state-mandated isolation was very difficult on Edith.
Curtis took classes at Luther Seminary which laid the foundation for much of his lay ministry work.
