With profound sadness, we say goodbye to Elaine Vik of Montevideo, Minnesota, whose vibrant spirit touched the lives of many. Elaine left this world on April 22, 2025 at the age of 83, leaving a void in the lives of so many people. You can send your sympathy in the guestbook provided and share it with the family.
She was predeceased by: her parents, Edwin Rekstad and Angeline Rekstad (Montevideo); and her sister Jenette Krugerud. She is survived by: her children, Angela Monson (John) of Dassel, MN and Kevin Schwitters (Sandy) of Cannon Falls, MN.; her stepchildren, Jeff Vik (Pam) of Marshall, MN, Pauline Kratz (Bill) of Brookings, SD and Dave Vik (Ellie) of Montevideo, MN.; her grandchildren, Lauren Schwitters (Jordan), Melanie Schwitters, Adam Monson (Ali) and Joshua Monson; her stepgrandchildren, Danielle Freeman (Mark), Megan Patzer (Austin), Lauren Meyer (Chase) and Britta (Jack); her husband James Vik; and her brother Larry Rekstad of Fargo, ND.
Visitation was held on Tuesday, April 29th 2025 from 10:00 AM to 11:00 AM at the Calendar Our Saviors Lutheran Church (222 N 5th St, Montevideo, MN 56265). A funeral service was held on Tuesday, April 29th 2025 at 11:00 AM at the same location.
In lieu of flowers, the family requests that donations be made in Elaine's memory to a charity of your choice or to Our Savior's Lutheran Church Choir Fund, where her voice will always echo.
