He was predeceased by: his parents, Marie Melzer and Mendel Melzer; his sisters, Franziska Sandler, Rose Lange and Sophie Kaplan; and his wife Fern Melzer.

He is survived by: his children, Mendel Melzer (Rosemary Maher) and Tamara Melzer Levenson (Alec Levenson); his granddaughter Eve; and his sibling Cashway. He is also survived by nieces and nephews.
