He was predeceased by: his wife Fay Chestnut; and his parents, Martin Chestnut and Gladys Chestnut. He is survived by: his children, Leslie Chestnut, Tracy van der Leeuw, Allison Rosenburg (Scott) and Marty Chestnut (Kelly); the mother of his children Karen Anderson; and his grandchildren, Josh Hahn (Abbie), Jackson Hahn, Sonita van der Leeuw, Nehali van der Leeuw and Jenna Rosenburg. He is also survived by many other family members and friends.
In lieu of flowers the family suggests contributions be sent to Golisano Children's Hospital of SW Florida and the Parkinson's Foundation.
