He was predeceased by: his parents, Franćiśek Vovk and Katarina Vovk (Janezić); his wife Anita Vitali; and his siblings, Joźe Vovk, Marija Rozman and Annica Potoćnic.

He is survived by: his children, Kathy Vansickle of Brainerd, Frank Vovk (Mary) of Hopkins, Mary Rauenhorst (Tom) of Crystal, Robert Vovk (Lori) of Coon Rapids, Therese Mickelson (John) of Minnetonka and Lisa Ochsendorf of Hugo; and his sister Slavka Sekirnik of Slovenia. He is also survived by 16 grandchildren, 27 great-grandchildren, 6 great great grandchildren.
