With heavy hearts, we announce the death of Rita Van Dorpe of Minneota, Minnesota, born in Ghent, Minnesota, who passed away on October 24, 2021 at the age of 96. Family and friends are welcome to leave their condolences on this memorial page and share them with the family.
She was predeceased by: her parents, Joseph Stassen and Mary Stassen (Boerboom); her husband Edward Van Dorpe; her daughter Barbara Verthein; her siblings, Teresa Kerkvliet, Helen Clark, Lawrence, Eugene and Clarence Stassen; and her siblings-in-law, Marie Andries, Lou and Hank Van Dorpe.
She is survived by: her children, Delores Scott of Jacksonville, FL, Diane Klotz (Ray) of Brooklyn Park, Catherine Willette (Jon) of Mankato and Richard (MaryKay) of Colorado Springs, CO; her son-in-law Richard Verthein; her sisters-in-law, Louise Stassen and Beverly Stassen; and her son-in-law Carl Scott of Florida. She is also survived by eight grandchildren and four great-grandchildren.
In lieu of flowers, memorials preferred to St. Edward Catholic Church or St. Edward Catholic School.
