He was predeceased by: his parents, Aleck Goldfarb and Lillie Goldfarb; his brother Stephen Goldfarb; and his son-in-law Russell Lederman. He is survived by: his wife Audrey Goldfarb; his sister Charlene Baskin (John); his children, Lynn Lederman (Kenneth Raskin), Alan Goldfarb (Nancy Joseph Goldfarb), Pam Goldfarb Liss (Glenn Liss) and Betsy Birnberg (Barry); and his grandchildren, Sara, Ari Lederman (Jens Lillevold), Daniel, Aaron Raskin, Jesse (Lauren Walburg), Molly (Carl Rosenberg), Ellie Goldfarb, Abigail, Rebecca Liss, Annie and Sam Birnberg.

In the final years of his life, Mace and his family were supported by a phenomenal team of caregivers (Jeremy, Marlene, Pule, Diana, Rosemary, Jody, Teri, Johnathon, Sabrina, Joyce, and Starr) who were steadfast in their compassion and companionship even during the pandemic.

“Dear beloved family, I am so very sorry for your loss. I met Mace for 30 minutes on my lunch break at Aboot Northwestern hospital in 1986. I was a 28 y.o. RN in the PACU and Mace interviewed me for a volunteer position with MIHV in Uganda. He asked if I could leave in a week and spend six months volunteering. His interview changed my life forever. I am now 64 and I am grateful that he opened my heart to this experience and many more volunteer opportunities to come. What a gem! Jane G.”
