It is with great sadness that we announce the death of Juanita Mary Martha Swartout (Minneapolis, Minnesota), who passed away on July 4, 2023, at the age of 94, leaving to mourn family and friends. She was predeceased by: her husband Clarence "Em"; her children, Phillip James and Mary Catherine; her parents, Harold Corbett and Irene Corbett; and her siblings, Marcella Walsh, Richard and Harold "Hap" Corbett.

She is survived by: her brother Jim Manthis (Cheryl); her children, Helen Ann (Kurt Timian), Joan (Mike McGinn), Michael (Cyna), Edward (Cindy), Martha (Thom Sandberg), Sarah (Mike Jackson), Joseph (Deb Williams) and Paula (Don Lundgren); and her grandchildren, Michael Phillip, Jeffrey, Molly, Seth, Emmett, Tara, Marit, Alissa, Mitchell, Josh, Jessica, Mark, Amelia, John, Alta Lucia, Emma, Jack and Hmong. She is also survived by Fifteen great-grandchildren, numerous nephews and nieces, Godchildren, friends, and many bonus sons and daughters.

“Corky, although we called her “cookie” because we couldn’t produce the “r” sound, was a great blessing to our family and the Hmong community. She taught my mom how to flip the light switch for light and how to turn the knob on the stove to cook. She was there at the hospital when my mom gave birth to me. I have the honor of being named by her. She named me Susan Joan after a missionary. Her legacy will be remembered for generations. My condolences to your family. May her memory be a blessing and may God bring you comfort.”
