He is survived by: his wife Beverly Schmitt; his children, Christa Rimmereid (Bruce), Beth Schmitt-Anderson (Kevin) and Nathan Schmitt (Caryn); his grandchildren, Peter Rimmereid (Janelle), Heather Kopietz (Tom), Kendra Rimmereid-Struck (Dan), Daniel Rimmereid, Christopher Pham, Elizabeth Andrews (Mark), Summer Winger (Tim) and Hunter Schmitt; and also Linda Schmitt. He is also survived by 15 great grandchildren.
