He was predeceased by: his sisters, Dawn Whitfield and Delicia Felder. He is survived by: his parents, Jeanne Whitfield and Jeanne Huff; his stepfather Charles Huff; his sons, Demetrius Gilbert-Whitfield and Justin Gilbert-Whitfield; his grandsons, Demetrius Gilbert Jr. and Aidan Gilbert; and his siblings, Duane Whitfield, Douglas Whitfield, Darrin Whitfield, Dackary Whitfield, Gene Whitfield and Dana Whitfield. He is also survived by two step brothers and two step sisters, with a host of nieces, nephews, cousins, aunties.
