It is with deep sorrow that we announce the death of David Frans Hiivala of Minneapolis, Minnesota, who passed away on February 28, 2023, at the age of 89, leaving to mourn family and friends. He was predeceased by: his parents, Emma Katherine (Niska) and Arthur Uno Hiivala; and his siblings, Daniel Lee, Byron "Bud" Hiivala, Joan Hiivala and Mary Lipe.

He is survived by: his wife Carol McCullen; his children, Terrance Hiivala, Jodi Weyrauch (Jere) and Todd E. Hiivala; his grandchildren, Jesse Weyrauch (Tracy), Jeffery Weyrauch (Kristina), Jake Weyrauch (Anna), Linsey Potter, Cory Hiivala (Amanda), Brynn Hiivala, Todd L. Hiivala (Robyn Tenner), Alyssa Bergeron (Steven) and Angelica Hiivala (Chris Bushey); and his great grandchildren, Sophia, Ava, Camden, Aizlyn, Easton, Loah, Eli, Naomi, Annaleigh, Ashlynn, Aurora, Logan, Griffin, Anna, Stevie of Maegen, CJ and Gunnar. He is also survived by friends and relatives.
