Constance Marie Rajamannan Obituary

Sunset Funeral Home & Sunset CemeterySteadfast Matriarch & TrailblazerConcie Rajamannan passed away peacefully surrounded by family and friends on October 19, 2023. Concie lived a devout and faithful life, attending daily mass until her last days. She is remembered for her strong Catholic faith, family values, and active role she played in her various communities that she always strived to serve. Her friends describe her as brave, independent, thoughtful, wise, talented, incredibly fun, fashionable, generous, a savvy business leader, grand, determined, loyal, our anchor & bedrock, proud and loving mother of Nalini and Lohini, proud mother-in-law and dear friend to Chapman, and immensely proud grandmother of Hugh & Hazen.

Sixty-four years ago, Concie with the assistance of her supportive and loving parents, took on the immeasurable challenge, along with her late husband Harry, to become the first Sri Lankans to immigrate to Minnesota on August 21, 1959. Concie embraced everything about her new life in the United States with bravery and passion. She is remembered fondly and respectfully within her first communities at the University of Minnesota where she took business classes and worked for the Chair of the Horticulture Department. Concie became a loyal volunteer for the League of Women Voters because she loved and believed in the United States as a land of opportunity. She also believed that all opportunities should be met with a strong duty of giving back.

Concie & Harry's home became a welcoming community for family, relatives, visiting scientists, and friends from around the world. Her well-tended and beloved garden welcomed the neighborhood for parties, games, and events. Concie balanced work and home life while raising and educating her daughters. After gaining a decade of business experience and insight from many of her entrepreneurial friends, Concie became an equal co-founder and CEO of her professional pride and joy, Agro-K Corporation.

A longtime resident of Minneapolis, Concie maintained an active profile within the community supporting many organizations and Catholic Schools who have honored her over the years for her leadership and commitment to excellence. She served as a co-host for the Minneapolis Aquatennial in 1972 and opened her home to many events for the season. In her spare time, she enjoyed exercise, music, dancing, gardening, cooking, dinner parties, politics, current events, and the company of friends and family. She was an avid fan of tennis, golf and the Minnesota Twins and Vikings.

Concie's special friendship with Rose Totino and her daughter Bonnie Brenny is remembered by all as faithful, loyal, and fun-loving. She dearly loved the Johnson family of Edina, the Miller and Shuster families of New Prague & Northfield, and the Mayo family of St. Croix Falls. They welcomed the Rajamannans into their families and Concie was forever grateful for their love, support, and countless memories of time spent together.

Concie's life story is one of faith, hard work, and perseverance equally measured with gratitude and a sheer joy for living. She is remembered for the love and generosity she showed her family, including her 3 beloved sisters and brothers in laws, 2 nieces, 3 nephews, and the countless friends and Agro-K employees–whom she treated like family–over the years. Preceded in death by her parents Josephine & Joseph Armstrong, and Sister Celine Joseph (Raymond). Concie is survived by her sisters Sarojini (Joseph) and Bhavani (Thevendra). Concie will be deeply missed, but her legendary legacy will remain.
