Gary Mortensen wrote a sympathy message

“I was fortunate enough to have served with Lt. Nixon on Midway Island. He was our Legal Officer at the time. I considered him a friend and he was also my instructor. He taught classes on the island for the University of Hawaii. I took 2 classes from him. I've been looking to re-connect with him for years but have not been able to locate him. We lived so close all these years and yet did not find each other. My prayers go out to the family and friends of Charles Thomas Nixon. Fair winds, Sir!”

Maryann Dyal wrote a sympathy message

“I feel lucky to have known Chuck through my sister, Phyllis. I will always remember his sunny disposition, his at the ready quips, his excellent manners (he would try to open my car door before I did but, not being used to such service, I always beat him!), his love and devotion to my sister and his interesting stories (especially regarding his military experience). We shared a love of reading, a love of good food and our love for Phyllis. The world is a little less bright without him.”
