He was predeceased by: his parents, Stephan Appel and Helen Appel (Shea); his son Paul; and his siblings, Grace and Edward.
He is survived by: his wife Joanne Appel of Millville; his children, Geri Kasper (Al) of Pierz, MN, Lisa Sprick (Jeff) of Lake City, Therese Jacobs (Ed) of Plainview, Amy Appel (Pete Anderson) of Elgin, David Appel (Patricia) of Millville and Curtis Appel (Nancy) of Plainview; and his sisters, Ellen Stelling of Rochester and Monica Brockway (David) of Pine Island. He is also survived by nine grandchildren, two step-grandchildren, 15 great-grandchildren, and three step-great-grandchildren.
