He was predeceased by: his parents, Gerhard and Laura (Struxness); his wife Barbara Spray; his son Gary; his son-in-law Orin Freeman; and his sister Lorraine Hubbs.
He is survived by: his children, Karen Freeman (Trampass Larson) of Ethan, SD and Terry Hilden (Naomi McVay) of Milan, MN; his grandsons, Jonathon, Matthew, Michael Freeman and Ethan Hilden; and his brother Merle Hilden (Yvonne) of Milan. He is also survived by numerous nieces and nephews.
