He was predeceased by: his grandparents, Axel, Florence Wilson, George and Mable Nelson; his uncle David Nelson; and his parents-in-law, Gerald Culp and Janice Culp.

He is survived by: his parents, Dennis Nelson and Linda Nelson (Wilson) of Milaca; his wife Candice Nelson (Culp) of Milaca; his children, Luke Nelson, Trevor Nelson and Bryanna Nelson; his stepson Zachary Gustafson; his grandchildren, Kaven Nelson and Amara Gustafson; his brothers, Jonathan Nelson (Sadie) of Sartell, MN, Brandon Nelson (Lynn) of Shafer, MN and Michael Nelson (Corrine) of Blaine, MN; and his brother-in-law David Culp. He is also survived by many nieces and nephews.

In lieu of flowers, memorials are preferred.
