He was predeceased by: his parents, Ralph Hillstead and Regina Hillstead (Wilkowski). He is survived by: his wife Judy (Sifferle); his children, Tom (Danielle), Laura Smith (Don), Rita Thoemke (Brian) and Brian (Beth Lovro); and his grandchildren, Ashley, Evan Smith (Eryn Miles), Cassie Meyers (Cody), Jordan Hillstead (Matthew Bauer), Catie Thoemke (Hiram Diez), Clara and Leah Thoemke.
Memorials preferred to Saint Peter's Historic Church or the Dorothy Day Place, St. Paul.
