It is with deep sorrow that we announce the death of Howard Carstens of Melrose, Minnesota, born in Belgrade, Minnesota, who passed away on May 28, 2021, at the age of 87, leaving to mourn family and friends. You can send your sympathy in the guestbook provided and share it with the family.
He was predeceased by: his parents, Herman Carstens and Kathryn Carstens (Mohs); and his siblings, Dorothy Stalberger, Shirley Hanson, Jean Edstrom, Allen Carstens and Richard "Dick" Carstens.
He is survived by: his wife Dorothy Carstens of Melrose; his children, Cynthia Carstens of Fair Oaks, Wayne Carstens (Jeannie) of Hawaii, James "Jim" Carstens (Brenda) of Melrose and Kim Piehl (Tim) of Baxter; and his siblings, Betty Lou Miller of New London, Julius Carstens of Monticello, Mary Lunke (Ed) of Duluth and Tom Carstens (Beth) of North Carolina. He is also survived by 11 grandchildren and 19 great-grandchildren.
In lieu of flowers, memorials are preferred.
