He is survived by: his children, Susan Orsen (Allan) of Victoria, Barb Leibfried of Shakopee, Nancy Boerboom (Steve) of Ghent, Bernie Claeys (Margene) of Ghent, Louie Claeys (Mark Aberle) of Ghent, Matt Claeys (Suzanne) of Long Lake and Paul Claeys (Sharon) of Ghent; his grandchildren, Jenny Norgaard (Christopher), Nick Orsen (Jen), Tom Leibfried, Erin Ferguson (Tye), Alissa Haack (Kyle), John Paul Leibfried (Emily), Bill Boerboom (Missy), Wade Boerboom (Joy), Sonya Vierstraete (Dustin), Lori Dubbeldee (Tyler), Krystal Lindquist (Chris), Jacob Claeys (Bridget), Lindsay Tippetts (Ben) and Joe Claeys (Katelyn); his great grandchildren, Addie, Gunnar Norgaard, Sophie, Mia Orsen, Carly Robinson (Jake), Lex Leibfried (Adrianna), Ariana Leibfried, Jack, Lucy Ferguson, John Henry, Grace, Luke Leibfried, Tallulah Haack, Cody Boerboom (Kallie), Dylan, Wyatt Boerboom, Katie Smidt (Lucas), Belle (PJ Bot), Sam Dieken, Jackson, Jonah, Jesse Vierstraete, Tori, Tiffany Dubbeldee, Katelyn, Jordynn, Caden, Bella, Leah Lindquist, Olivia, Vance, Devyn, Ivory Claeys, Reba, Matt, Ellie, Abbie Tippetts and Anna Marie Claeys; his great great grandchildren, Ryan, Riley Robinson, Matteo Leibfried, Brock Leibfried and Madden Smidt; his brother Jim Claeys of Marshall; and his in-laws, Doris Claeys of Madison, Char Opdahl of Des Moines, Mike, Norma Opdahl of Spicer and Bill Drown of Marshall. He is also survived by many nieces, nephews, other relatives, and friends.
Visitation was held on Friday, November 8th 2024 from 4:00 PM to 6:00 PM and on Saturday, November 9th 2024 from 9:00 AM to 10:00 AM at the Horvath Funeral Service (404 W Lyon St, Marshall, MN 56258). A prayer was held on Friday, November 8th 2024 from 6:00 PM to 6:15 PM at the same location. A Mass was held on Saturday, November 9th 2024 from 10:30 AM to 11:30 AM at the Holy Redeemer Catholic Church (503 W Lyon St, Marshall, MN 56258).
